Summary:
The Registered Nurse will work under the supervision of the Unit Manager following the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of practice, and code of ethics (see attachment) within a Patient and Family Centered Care Model.
These standards include:
PRIMARY JOB DUTIESAssessment- collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation.
Nursing diagnosis- analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues.
Outcomes identification- identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
Planning- develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
Implementation- implements the identified plan.

EREmergency room travel nurses are on the hospital front-lines, which is why emergency room travel nurse positions require a candidate who is able to handle a stressful and busy environment.
They are responsible for examining patients upon their arrival and carrying out triage tasks to assess their condition.
Ability to identify injuries, signs and symptoms, and communicate their assessment to the physician are required for the emergency room nurse.
A travel ER nurse assists in patient treatment and explaining prescription information to patient/family among other tasks and must know the facility and government policies as it relates to patient treatment, transfer, and discharge.
Educating the patient and their family about continued treatment at home is another task carried out by emergency room nurses before discharge.
